About

Purpose

We are sharing our experience growing lawns in central North Carolina. Our target audience is homeowners and DIY folks. The purpose is to make the information we have gathered more accessible. We chose to make the information available in a written format that can be easily referenced. Many resources are available on the topic of lawn care, but they tend to be either very broad (not regionally specific) or highly technical.

Past

I’ve (Marcel) always had a love of growing plants. I enjoyed many rewarding years working in the medical device industry. I made a change to working outdoors and haven’t looked back. My two children, who are not that young anymore, tease me by referring to me as “the grass nuzzler”. I suppose they are right. I really enjoy this work and serving people by partnering with them to produce a lawn that brings them joy.

Fourteen years ago, I was fortunate enough to join the NaturaLawn of America system. I’ve learned a bit (mostly the hard way) about how to grow lawns. Our vision is to create the most consistently superior looking lawns while minimizing the use of control materials. The idea is to bring the most effective solution with one foot in the organic world, the other in the synthetic. And sometimes, the best solution is to let nature take its course and wait for the right moment to intervene.

Present

Between our customers and co-workers, every day brings new challenges and rewards. When I’m not harassing customers about their mowing habits, I enjoy day-hiking on the many trails available in the great state of North Carolina. In spare time, I play guitar, but noodling is a more accurate description. Our team has a wide range of interests. I encourage customers to learn a little more about their technician, they each have very interesting stories of their own.
